I'll be brief on my review of this book, I don't want to waste your time reading this, while you could be reading this enlightening book, pun intended. :)
So, this book to me, is a little like the girl whom you were at first hesitant about taking out on a second date.
I have to admit, as interested as I am in learning about what light is... during my first read, I could only get half way through this book, I put the book away, for a few weeks, thinking there is too much theory and background information here for me, BUT THEN... one day as I was looking through my modest bookshelf for something to read, the title of this book once again caught my eye... WHAT IS LIGHT?
I decided to give this book another try and 'WHADDYA KNOW', I become astonished with the enlightenment this book has brought into my life on my second read.
Do you subscribe to the theory that light is a Wave or a Particle?
Personally, I think is both!
Think of it this way... when you have an idea, the image of your idea in your mind is made of light-- waves of light, BUT the moment your idea becomes a reality, that light becomes a particle-- better yet, your idea is a group of particles brought into existence via the waves of light!
Hm. So, perhaps we have just stumbled upon the fact that light is a wave!
If the particles of light, were first waves of light, then this inference brings us to the realization that, since light was a wave before it became a particle, then the most logical conclusion seems to be that Light is a wave!
Here is one of many favorite quotes from the book"
"Nothing is visible without Light, but light itself is not a thing. It is the activation of potential: Light is then in a sense the color of transparency- (Aristotle 107)"
